St. Mary Church

Please consider We have been given the opportunity to assist Bartels residents to & from their Sunday services during May 2003. We need 7-9 people for each weekend. Volunteers arrive at 10am & stay for the service to return the residents to their room (finish about 11:30 am). Call the office to volunteer yourself or group.

Year of the Rosary: Free rosaries are available at the main entrance of church. If you have extra rosaries, they may be left in the basket to share with others.

Something to think about - Lay Ministry: The next 3-yr. program will begin in Sept. 2003 in Marshalltown. The Lay Ministry mission statement states, We are the people of God called by baptism to share fully in the mission of the Church to teach, to serve, & to sanctify by transforming the world. An informational meeting will be held Apr. 8 or 10 in Waterloo. Call the office to request a brochure on the program.

 

Friends Helping Friends -  Senior Companion Program of Hawkeye Community College: Companions are 60+ who provide friendship & assistance to older adults in their  homes. Receive tax-free stipend, meal & mileage. Call 233-6726 for more info.

 

The next Beginning Experience weekend is March 28-30 at American Martyrs Retreat House. Please advertise this weekend in your parish bulletin. It is a wonderful weekend for divorced, separated, or widowed individuals to bring closure to their past relationships. The next BE will not be until October 3-5. Contact the Family Life Office for registration information.
